On Tuesday I attended a workshop on making storytelling more interractive. It was run by The Village Storytelling Centre, whose workshops I can heartily recommend. The highlight, for me, was a character-creation exercise, in which we came up with a giant called Cyril, who is 947 years old and works for Barrow-In-Furness Council, but longs to be free to express himself artistiacally.
Then on Friday evening we had a one-off event, which I'm hoping will blossom into a regular thing. Tam's Ceilidh (that's ceilidh in the original and true sense of the word), which my dad organised, a fundraiser for refuweegee - a charity helping refugees in Glasgow.
There was poetry, there was music, and of course, there was storytelling. It was a real celebration of culture and community in Glasgow, and I was proud to be the MC.
